What is a Yarnivore?Yarnivore

If a carnivore is an animal that gets its energy from eating meat, then it’s only a small stretch to think that a yarnivore is someone that gets their energy from playing with yarn, right? Yarnivores are people obsessed with fiber – lace through bulky, cotton through cashmere.

Yarnivore is a local yarn shop on San Antonio’s northwest side (in Castle Hills), catering to fiber fans of all kinds – crocheters, felters, knitters, spinners and weavers. We draw customers from all over south Texas and are thrilled to have a loyal following of yarnivores who make it a point to visit whenever they’re in town.

In addition to all kinds of yarn and fiber, we sell books, patterns, accessories, tools and larger equipment like looms and spinning wheels. We carry Berroco, Brown Sheep, Cascade, Feza, Plymouth, SMC, Rowan, Sirdar, Universal and many other national lines plus boutique lines like Anzula, Done Roving, Jade Sapphire, Juniper Moon, Noro, Reywa and Sublime. Looking for artisan work? We’ve increased our focus on local hand-dyed and often have yarn and other goodies from artists like Eat Me Yarn, Bonnie Bishoff (shawl pins!), Peppervine Pottery and Vice Yarns. Yarnivore carries Schacht looms and Ashford spinning wheels. Finally, we love to feed your passion by offering you classes and private lessons. For the latest on all of our products, follow us on Facebook or swing by the store.

We pride ourselves on inspiring you to pick up fiber and tool and create a one of a kind project. Join us to browse or bring in your current work-in-progress and hang out on our comfy couch and chairs for a while.

  1. I just bought NeedleArts of Georgetown and would like to participate in next year’s yarn crawl. Have I made the deadline? How do I proceed? Thanks for the input.
